ST. LOUIS (Nov. 9, 2018) — The American Red Cross, JOY FM and BOOST 101.9 FM encourage the community to donate blood at the 9th annual JOY FM Perfect Gift Blood Drive, Friday, Nov. 24. Everyone who attempts to donate blood will receive a special edition “Give Together” long-sleeved T-shirt, while supplies last.
The need is constant and blood and platelet donations tend to decline between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day when people become busy with holiday festivities. Give the perfect gift this holiday season and participate in a long-standing tradition of helping patients in need. The Red Cross, JOY FM and BOOST 101.9 FM hope to collect 580 pints of lifesaving blood during the drive.
“JOY FM and BOOST always lend a helping hand by hosting this blood drive at a critical time of the year,” said Lori Stone, district manager of the Red Cross Blood Services Region in St. Louis. “The tremendous support of JOY and Boost listeners is amazing and we are grateful to all who roll up their sleeve to help keep the shelves stocked with blood products.”
The Red Cross encourages you to join this event to continue the yearly tradition of helping to give hospital patients an opportunity to spend another holiday with their loved ones. Since 2010, this drive has collected over 4,600 pints.
The 9th annual JOY FM Perfect Gift Blood Drive will be held Friday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following locations:
· West Hills Community Church, 13250 S. Outer 40, Town and Country, Mo.
· Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 1151 Tom Ginnever Ave., O’Fallon, Mo.
· First Baptist Church, 2012 Missouri State Road, Arnold, Mo.
· Faith Family Church, 704 N. Green Mount Road, Shiloh, Ill.

High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
Volunteers needed
Another way to support the lifesaving mission of the American Red Cross is to become a volunteer transportation specialist and deliver lifesaving blood products to local area hospitals. Volunteer transportation specialists play a very important role in ensuring an ample blood supply for patients in need by transporting blood and blood products.
