Give the gift of life, then enjoy the spectacular “Holiday Lights” display
BRISTOL, Ct. (Nov. 23, 2016) — Lake Compounce, Connecticut’s premiere family theme park, and The American Red Cross encourage the community to give the perfect gift this holiday season by donating blood at the Lake Compounce Blood Drive on Saturday, December 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All those who come out to donate will receive a complementary ticket* to the park’s Holiday Lights event that can be used through Dec. 18, or right after donation during the park’s tree lighting at 4 p.m.
The tree lighting features the tallest Christmas tree in Connecticut and reigns over the main gates of the park among hundreds of thousands of lights and decorations. At Holiday Lights, families can also enjoy photos with Santa, ice sculptures, carolers and food trucks!
By rolling up a sleeve, blood donors can help ensure patients continue to receive treatment throughout the holiday season, a time when busy schedules can lead to a decline in donations.
“Lake Compounce is thrilled to partner with the American Red Cross to help hospital patients in need over the holidays,” said Jerry Brick, Lake Compounce General Manager. “We hope families will start a new tradition-enjoy a night at Holiday Lights after helping to save lives!”

How to donate blood
Simply download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
Blood donors can now save time at their next donation by using RapidPass to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online, on the day of their donation, prior to arriving at the blood drive. To get started and learn more, visit redcrossblood.org/RapidPass and follow the instructions on the site.
