While all blood drives have the same goal – to meet the needs of patients and hospitals – the Red Cross offers a variety of blood drive types to ensure convenient opportunities are available to our valued donors. Much like your favorite retail stores, Red Cross Blood Donation Centers have regular days and hours of operation including weekends and evenings. Donation Centers are permanent facilities devoted exclusively to helping meet the needs of patients in your community and around the country. With nearly 200 Red Cross Donation Center locations, doing good is likely right around the corner.
Plus, giving blood at your local Red Cross Donation Center offers you a chance to get to know your Red Cross staff and other donors within your community. A huge perk of giving back is forming connections and creating new friendships, and our donation centers are a great place to do just that!
Also known as “bloodmobiles,” bus blood drives offer flexibility, and even a little spontaneity, for donors. Bloodmobiles can come directly to your community, helping to serve areas that may lack other donation opportunities. Over the course of a bloodmobile’s expected 10-year lifespan, it can collect approximately 30,000 units of blood, helping as many patients. The goal is to make blood donation as convenient as possible, and what’s more convenient than having talented Red Cross staff come directly to you?
Often inspired by, or in remembrance of, a loved one, sponsored blood drives are another great option for donating. They can also be organized around a holiday or event, so that the local community is encouraged to easily add donating to their itinerary. Like bloodmobiles, blood drives offer a certain level of flexibility, and can connect you with other donors that live near you or have similar interests.
