Plasma is prepared from whole blood or collected by apheresis. The products contain varying levels of coagulation factors, fibrinolytic proteins, albumin, and other proteins.
Component volume varies from 150ml - 320ml (units collected by apheresis may be larger). Red Cross also offers plasma for pediatric and neonatal transfusions that is prepared from fresh frozen plasma (FFP).
